1945

1945

Italy is suffering the injuries of a just finished war and Ignazio Komin, a Hungarian refugee in Italy, has the idea of setting up a natural down processing factory. The Canovai brothers, manufacturers of the textile industry in Prato (Tuscany), decide to help him in his adventure. The village of Buggiano, not far from Prato, is the ideal place: the high ceilings of the former plants of Paskowski Brewery are perfect to host the down processing machineries.

Silvano Cinelli, who is still a kid, starts his adventure into the down world working as delivery boy for Komin. His cleverness and his initiative are immediately rewarded and he becomes fond of the secrets of the down manufacturing. Komin, impressed by Silvano's will and interest, takes him along during his journeys on his white Topolino car.

1964

1964

1st of May: PIUMA is born. In the meantime the son of Silvano Cinelli, Nicola, turns 1 year. A strong sign that melts together Silvano's two biggest loves. The company starts producing pillows and quilts, becoming stronger and stronger. The word of mouth increases its strength.

1965

1965

The company produces the first down jacket prototypes for the alpine sports making use of cotton, nylon and pure down. Silvano understands clearly that the down jacket may become a garment for the everyday urbanites.

1972

1972

The first Italian expedition to the Antarctic wears light garments. In places where climate is harsh and the temperatures are really extreme, Cinelli's padded jacket is the only protection for the body that allows comfort and practicality at the same time. And then Himalaya, Svalbard. Important testimonials are arriving. Tenzing Norgay - together with Edmund Hillary, was the first to reach the summit of the Everest Mountain on May 29th, 1953 - he was photographed with a red padded jacket. Creation of the first padded jacket for everyday use. Nicola Cinelli was photographed in the magnificent and mysterious Red Square in Moscow together with his family. He is wearing a specifically customized jacket. This garment was recovered from Cinelli's historical archive and twenty years later it will become one of the strong points of the CRUST brand.

1995

1995

The extraordinary heritage of experience and knowledge in the pure natural down processing has allowed so far the Company to develop a full line of furnishing products and accessories. All of this is now invested in the new urban outerwear collection Sartoria del Piumino. The journey does not end here: these are milestones with further goals, passing through further evolution.

The first samples of Sartoria del Piumino are ready. The company starts to differentiate the two production lines: furnishing and clothing run on two different tracks with a common know-how carved in the DNA of the Cinelli family.

2003

[C]STUDIO is born, a brand dedicated to experimentation and research with extravagant material combinations. The first collection is entirely focused on the man. Nicola Cinelli (new leader of the apparel sector) immediately recognizes the potential that this brand can have on the ladies as well. He bets on silk, leather, and over-dying mixed in a unique manufacturing appeal. It is immediately a success.

From Sartoria del Piumino to C by Cinellistudio. Up to CBY, the brand that conquers the domestic and the foreign markets for its style. The CBY collection enhances the femininity and the sensuality of every woman looking for a Made in Italy garment. High-quality materials and utmost attention to the details are the distinctive signs of Cinellistudio. CBY TEPPA, the kid collection dedicated to the little pests, joins with the feminine brand. Meanwhile [C]STUDIO reaches the natural down haute couture with a superior design collection. Cinellistudio's brands are protagonist in all the most glamourous cities. Florence, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, Tokyo and Seoul: approval, curiosity, appreciation everywhere. The media are besieged.

2006

Cinellistudio grows and introduces two new brands in the market, enriching the company portfolio: CBY CRUST and CBY+WHITE. CBY CRUST is a man-only collection, while CBY+WHITE is woman-only: ultralight, ultrafashion, ultraluxurious. It is a success! Everybody wants a Cinellistudio jacket. From Gigi Buffon, nr. 1 goalkeeper of the Italian soccer team to the rapper Coolio that chooses CBY CRUST for its single "Dip It". Even the showgirl Aida Yespica, protagonist of Coolio's video, is wearing a sparkling CBY+WHITE coat. The Cinellistudio brands are on the best magazines as well as on TV.

CBY CRUST becomes CRUST and the collection has now some woman lines as well. The Fall Winter 2008-2009 collection retrieves and interprets the first Made in Italy down jacket born from the entrepreneurial spirit of the Cinelli family. CRUST debuts at the Bread & Butter fair in Barcelona and meets the audience approval. CBY, CRUST and CBY+WHITE are established as leading brands of the made in Italy fashion panorama. The turnover grows and Cinellistudio too.

In the most exclusive retails and showrooms, worn by those who love to stand out in style: the success of Cinellistudio's brands is consolidated worldwide. And not only in the winter collections, where the peculiarities of the pure natural down are at their best. The jackets of the summer collections, made of light and colorful nylon, are convincing and arouse enthusiasm. Thanks also to the presentation show set up for the Spring Summer 2009 CRUST, CBY, and CBY+WHITE collections. And the journey goes on.

Our road is now open on the new scenarios of retail and trade, where our tradition and experience converge in a unified [C]STUDIO. The identity of Cinellistudio and its products condenses in a brand portfolio that contains a long legacy of unique values in the world of pure European natural down outerwear. In our project, change means continuity and tradition is about innovation. In our experience, the focus is on the know-how, the quality and the responsibility that characterize us since the very start.
